Who is the Karamel?

Karamel is the epitomy of classy, sex appeal, and determination. My grandmother named me this when I was a child. She was Dominican and African American and she spoke fluent Spanish, so she often called me Baby Karamela for my skin complexion. The name is in honor of her.

How did you get started modeling?

I began as a singer first. I needed photos for my singing career so I had a photoshoot, posted photos of me on musecube, and the rest is history!!

Is modeling all that you thought it would be?

Modeling is MORE and then some!! ? I never thought that I would be so successful at my age now. It’s just a blessing to be able to share “Karamel,” my alter ego, with the world.

Why do you feel that you that you have an advantage over other models?

I have height. Many models in magazines these days may have the curves and the “look,” but they lack height, so all they can do is be a print/editorial model. Also, I’ve heard may industry buffs complain of the personality of models. They might say that they are stuck up, etc. Well, I believe that I have the ENTIRE package: looks, height, personality, drive/determination to succeed, class, and sex appeal. Because of this, I’m able to be successful at getting what I want to reach my goals as a model.

What is your biggest claim to fame?

My biggest claim to fame is trust in the Lord and all that He’s worth and ye shall receive your blessings. I count my blessings everyday.

What is your most important goal for 2007? In life?

My most important goal right now is to finish my Degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant in June 07. It’s one thing to just be a pretty face, but you must have a backbone and my education is my backbone and my humbleness.

Who have been some of your main influences as a model and as a person?

Melissa Ford, I like her style. I also like Tyra and I relate most with her in a sense of personality. She seems to be laid back, calm, sassy, and determined. But she also enjoys lounging in her sweats, etc. She enjoys sports and those traits best describe me.

What kind of advise would you give someone starting out in the business?

It must be something that you enjoy doing. The key is to invest in your craft. If you want to become a model, investing in outfits, travel, website surfing, industry contacting, etc is the key to your success. Get in the “know” crowd and learn the business.

What is the best thing about being a model?

Being recognized everywhere you go. That’s the best thing to me.

Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

I see myself being a successful Physical Therapist Assistant and possibly a model/talent scout.
